The Bartender’s Choice Awards recognise the best of the industry when it comes to bars, bartenders, cocktails and restaurants. Bartenders and owners from across the Nordic region watched as the results were announced for each country and in the Swedish category, five of the six awards went to Stockholm businesses and members of staff.
Here’s the full list of incredible awards given to Stockholmers and their businesses:
- Häktet Vänster – Best cocktail menu
- Sturehof – Best restaurant
- Coquetel Social – Best atmosphere
- Röda Huset – Best new cocktail bar
- Lucy’s Flower Shop – Best cocktail bar
We can’t say that we’re too surprised, given the amazing nightlife in Stockholm but the city really shone at last night’s ceremony, so here’s a bit of information about each of these fantastic places.
This chic speakeasy is hidden behind an unmarked door on Hornsgatan and if you think the name sounds familiar that’s because this bar is related to the restaurant Häktet. Here you can enjoy craft cocktails with a thrift store/antique style of decoration and a fantastic atmosphere.
This incredible restaurant specialises in seafood (like most good Swedish restaurants). You’ll find a menu packed with incredible shellfish dishes alongside dishes suited to those who love a delicious, juicy steak. There’s also at least one vegetarian option and an extensive wine list.
📍Birger Jarlsgatan 20
Coquetel Social has everything you’d want in a cocktail bar. Plus, there’s a full page of martinis to try and a full page of daiquiris. So if you’re into either of those cocktails then you absolutely must visit this super-stylish cocktail bar.
This stunning bar and restaurant only opened in 2021 but since then it’s built quite the reputation as a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The drinks menu uses iconic Swedish ingredients like carrots and plums and it was all created by an award-winning mixologist, Hampus Thunholm.
Lucy’s Flower Shop
Ranking 35th in the world’s 50 best bars is Lucy’s Flower Shop. This place is incredible. Located within an empty flower shop in Stureplan, you would never have guessed that there’s a cocktail bar hidden through a door somewhere at the back of the shop. In 2020 it won the Gulddraken award for best bar in Stockholm and it was also named the best bar in the Nordics by Difford’s Guide.
