According to a new report from the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Stockholm is Europe’s second most competitive capital. It’s second only to Oslo in Norway, which has emerged as the most competitive capital in Europe.
Copenhagen comes in third, just behind Stockholm and the report has been drawn up using eleven key features that SCC argues are fundamental to the growth of a successful city. It’s all been done in the name of improving Stockholm’s standing, says Andreas Hatzigeorgiou who is the SEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
So what places Stockholm below Oslo? Well, crime is more widespread in Stockholm, there is more unemployment and there are also issues with housing shortages. In fact, Stockholm was ranked as the third-worst capital when it comes to the housing market.
Plus, the city’s high tax rates pushed the city down in the rating alongside the long commutes for workers. However, people have a lot of trust in one another and there is a stable political climate. Stockholm also values sustainability and in general, people are satisfied with their lives in the city.
