Sometimes we all need a breather…
Life can be pretty non-stop and taking some time out to appreciate the slower, calmer aspects of life can really improve people’s mental health. However, it’s not always easy when you live in a city to find a quiet place, to read a book, or take a stroll. Stockholm is not your average city, though, and there are little oases everywhere, green spaces hidden amidst the concrete and cars. Here are our favourites.
1. Rosendals Trädgård
📍Rosendalsvägen 38, 115 21
This beautiful garden on Djurgården is such a relaxing spot to visit with a book and take some time to yourself. Here they grow lots of lovely produce and plants, and they use some of it to bake the delicious food, available to buy at Rosendals Trädgårds Bakery. You could spend all day exploring and relaxing in these lovely gardens.
2. Victoriahuset
📍 Veit Wittrocks väg 11, 114 18
Victoriahuset is pretty far from the centre, but it’s a place that everybody should visit at least once because it’s so unique and beautiful. This Victorian greenhouse was built specifically to house water lilies, and there are so many of them, from different parts of the world. You can read more about this stunning greenhouse on the website.
3. Humlegården
📍Karlavägen 32, 114 31
Humlegården is one of the most beautiful parks in Stockholm, with lush green grass and plenty of places to sit and relax. As the seasons change there’s always something new to see, from snow to falling leaves, blossom and beautiful flowers.
4. Tantolunden
📍Zinkens Väg 20, 118 42
This sprawling park is the perfect place for some you-time, and although it’s a popular spot for runners and dog walkers, there’s enough room for everyone to find some peace ad quiet here. If minigolf is your thing, there’s a fantastic course here, and if you want to see some of Stockholm’s history you can find an old defensive post from World War II by the park.
5. Nobelparken
📍Nobelgatan, 115 27
A walk along the strand at Nobelparken is basically heaven. It’s such a gorgeous, green park, filled with lush foliage and manicured lawns but the best part of visiting is being able to sit and look out over the water. You can read more about the park on the website.
