Christmas is just over a month away, and before you panic and head to your local high street for some sub-par gifts why not try the many Christmas markets in Stockholm this festive season? Here you can buy the most unique and thoughtful gifts whilst also sampling all of the delicious festive food that Stockholm has to offer. Here are our favourite Christmas markets to visit this time of year.
1. Gamla Stan Christmas Market

It’s not just super-sized hotdogs you need to look out for at the Gamla Stan Christmas Market. Here there’s a huge array of stalls selling Christmas gifts, decorations, and tons of delicious foods to warm you up during what promises to be a frosty festive season.
2. Filmstadens Christmas Market

This Christmas market is a little more unusual than the others, in a very good way, because here you get to visit a film screening and help decorate the Christmas tree. This place is legendary – ‘the place where Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman broke through as film stars’, and there will be delicious saffron waffles with lingonberry cream on offer from the amazing Portvaktsstugan.
3. Christmas Fair At The Royal Court Stables

The Royal Court stables are absolutely beautiful and at Christmas, they become even more beautiful because for 12 years running there’s been a lovely Christmas fair. Not only can you see the stunning, ornate carriages and horses housed here, but you can explore stall upon stall of lovely gifts and food. There are about 70 craftspeople here every year so there’s plenty to peruse.
4. Skansen Christmas Market

Since 1903 there’s been a Christmas market at Skansen, and it has to be one of the most festive places on Earth! From marzipan to ceramics and waffles, there are about 70 stalls here – it’s huge! Plus, you get to explore the absolute wonder that is Skansen and listen to old-timey stories about Christmasses gone by. It really is the place to get in the Christmas spirit!
5. The Fair Christmas Market

Head to ABF-huset EntrĂ©plan, Sveavägen 41 and you’ll find a Christmas market stocked with fair trade and organic products. You can find products such as soap and olive oil produced by women’s organisations and organisations for the deaf in Gaza and Ramallah, Palestine. Plus, fairtrade products from Just Africa and much more besides.
6. Färgfabriken Christmas Market

If you’re into arts and crafts then you need to visit Färgfabriken Christmas Market where 100 exhibitors will be selling their homemade products. There are always tons of beautiful creations to purchase and it’s the perfect place to buy a special, unique gift for somebody you love.
